Miss Carpenters, Tema Wickham
MISS Tema Wickam as Miss Carpenters Solomon Islands was crowned the 2013 Miss Charity queen after she raised $325,000 as part of her charity fundraising work for Goldie College.
The 2013 Charity was aimed to fund the building of Goldie College Kitchen, including installation of water tanks and setting up of a computer lab this year.
“It is because of your tireless commitment in the charity work that we are able to provide financial support towards the specific educational institutions in the Solomon Islands,” said the Chairman of the beauty pageants committee, Tony Karaua to the six beauty pageants who contested for the Miss Charity Crown event last week.
Mr Karaua revealed that this year’s charity work will specifically fund educational institutions in the country; the institutions that our future leaders will be attending.
“This year our six beautiful women have raised an excessive total of $800,000 for charity, which will go towards their specific schools of choice,” said Mr. Karaua.
He thanked Ms Tema for her contribution towards raising the funds and told her to wear the 2013 charity crown proudly for the organisation and people she represent in this event.
“Wear it for your co-sponsors who have contributed financially towards your outstanding charitable work and those who have supported you throughout your planned fundraising activities over the last months.
“You also wear this crown for the Goldie College and students that will receive this funding support towards the development of their schools project.”
Ms Wickham was also a former student of Goldie College in the Western province.
