POLICE will activate a zero tolerance action during their launch ‘SHAGGY Operation’, cracking down illegal activities today at the Heritage Park Hotel.
The operation will cover the vicinity the event will take place, from the Mendana Hotel entrance down to the Town ground area.
Speaking to reporters last week, Acting Police Commissioner, Juanita Matanga said that from their experience they always encounter law and order issues during events like this.
“There will be no tolerance during this operation, past similar shows often lead to illegal activities which is not good of anyone,” Ms Matanga stressed.
“Police will also initiate strategies to control and manage the public movement on Sunday (Today).
With these she added that there will be temporary measures taken in terms of bus-stops in the area of event.
The bus stop along the High Court area and finance will temporarily moved to the SMI area at Town Ground.
With that police will be deployed for the closure of road junctions along the area.
“All bus-stops within this area will be closed along with the junction in front of the Heritage park hotel, as police will be monitoring the areas.
However, she said traffic will continue as normal but will not stop along the highway, as usually for passengers.
Meanwhile, the organizers urged ticket holders to be on time for the event as gates will be open at 4pm.
