RECENT logging activities in acclaimed Teresa land in Isabel province has been condemned by Primary Landowners.

A spokesperson for a Terisa Jajae landowners group Mr. Jonathan Simata claimed that recent logging activities by Licensee Mighty Tiasa (SI) Ltd and NGU brothers (SI) Ltd in the area have gone against an interim order handed down on the 13th of February 2013 by the high court.

Sumitomo Metal Mining (SMM) Company Solomon Islands has established forest rehabilitation on Leleghia Isabel.

A statement from the project coordinator and Landowner Paul Ikoi claimed that this research is done to determine different forms of tree planting and which tree species are better suited for soil conditioning and soil protection.

According to a local who identify himself as John said that the recent heavy rainfall caused by cyclone Sandra is slowly affecting their daily livelihood.

The heavy rainfall caused by the cyclone will soon affecting us. You look at the water level at this moment it will soon be killing us. Our gardens have been underwater this means that in the coming weeks there will be a shortage of food.

The Quarantine Division under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) is in no time to wipe out this invasive species which is currently multiplies at an alarming trend.
