Amoana (2) has defeated Green Berets (1) 39-37 in an unexpected takeover in the third Quarter of their match yesterday in the Honiara Netball League.
The unexpected turnout came as Green Berets saw favor in their side leading the first half of the game 21-18 securing a 3 point difference as they took onto the court behind the multi purpose hall complex.
Securing they way forward in the Division A group, Amoana 2 produced a fine game crawling up against one of the leagues favorites Green Berets 1, to produce a remarkable victory.
Kicking off the matches for the day the two teams were seemingly tough with Green Barrets demonstrating a rather strong defense line putting a lot of pressure for the Renbellese ladies in Amoana 2.
NEWLY elected President of Malaita Football Association (MFA), Eddie Omokirio says that his new leadership will revive soccer in the province.
His affirmation came less than a fortnight ago after he was successfully elected at the recent election taking over from his predecessor Derrick Taka.
Mr. Omokirio who was invited last week for an information session representing MFA organized by country’s health and medical services.
He told Isles Sport when asked about his future plans for soccer development in the province; Mr. Omokirio said soccer has been dead for a very long time.
NATIONAL PROVIDENT Fund (NPF) is the proud host of this year’s interbank competition.
The tournament featured four different sports yesterday, Basketball, touch rugby, dart and the introduced chess.
Chairman of NPF’s organizing committee, Don Fakarii, said they are the proud host of this year’s competition and through their tireless efforts had made a successful start yesterday.
“We really appreciate and congratulate ourselves for hosting the games, though we face challenges in scheduling time we are hopeful everything happened accordingly,” Mr. Fakarii said.
A NEWLY introduced health exercise Zumba dance has gain popularity since it’s initiation on January by ex Fiji School of Medicine (FSM) students, advocating health fitness by dancing to the beat of music.
Speaking to Isles sports organizer and instructor, Malakai Ranuve (a Fijian doctor) said the aim of the new introduced sport here, is to engage men and women physically fit and strong healthy life style.
