GUADALCANAL Province Second Appointed Day will be marked on 1st August at Doma Township.

According to Provincial Secretary, James Taiburi a committee chaired by the Deputy Provincial Secretary has already been set up to organize the event.

He said preparation is well underway to host the event. He said hosting the event at Doma Township is in line with the Guadalcanal’s plan to promote cultural heritage.

“The committee was established to work on preparations for the event, they are well ahead of their budgets and plans. Since last year some of the structures of the mini FOPA cultural village at Doma needed maintenance and upgrade.”

“Those things they have already working on it to upgrade the structures, cleaning up and engaging people to participate at the program has already been done. Slowly they are now moving into final arrangements.” He said.

Mr. Taiburi added that the only thing to decide is the theme for this year. He said last year there was never a theme and also the previous Second Appointed Day.

Mr. Taiburi also stated that the province is so unfortunate that it did not have the proper facilities to host such important event.

He said while the province anticipate the development of its township at Doma, they are looking forward to benefit from the 2015 Premiers Conference which will be hosted by the province.

Knowing to well that the national government has poured huge sums of money for the event Mr. Taiburi said that the province will use it built some of its important structures such Assembly Chambers and other supporting facilities.
