Roderick Bay resort owners have planned to hold remembrance service to honour the historical World Discoverer wreckage at Roderick Bay in Gela.

A statement from Roderick Bay resort operator said the remembrance service will coincide with the opening of the new resort later towards the end of this year.

GUADALCANAL Province Second Appointed Day will be marked on 1st August at Doma Township.

According to Provincial Secretary, James Taiburi a committee chaired by the Deputy Provincial Secretary has already been set up to organize the event.

He said preparation is well underway to host the event. He said hosting the event at Doma Township is in line with the Guadalcanal’s plan to promote cultural heritage.

Solomon Islands National Museum which is expected to be upgraded.Solomon Islands National Museum which is expected to be upgraded.A government plan to build a new modern museum complex is in the pipeline as negotiations to secure funds for the plan gets underway.

 

Minister for Culture and Tourism Hon. Samuel Manetoali announced this initiative during celebrations marking the International Museum Day last week.

Once completed, the new museum complex will store all the country’s museum collections, some of which are kept in museums around the world.
